Area basketball players named all-conference

Shelbyville junior guard Josh Williams was named to the All-Hoosier Heritage Conference team on Monday.

All-conference teams for boys’ and girls’ basketball in Shelby County have been released. 

In the Hoosier Heritage Conference, Shelbyville juniors Zach Kuhn and Josh Williams were named All-HHC.

Other members of the team are Josh Bryan of Delta, Will O’Connor of Greenfield-Central, Damari Gatewood of Mt. Vernon, Mason Gillis, Luke Bumbalough and Niah Williamson of New Castle, Maximus Gizzi and Gavin Hausz of New Palestine and Justin Shupe and Trent Miller of Pendleton Heights.

Golden Bears senior guard Sam Lewis was named an honorable mention.

Daniel Cox of New Castle was named Coach of the Year. The Trojans finished HHC play at 7-0. Shelbyville was 4-3 (tied for second).

On the girls’ side of the HHC, Shelbyville juniors Carris Decatur and Olivia Knarr were named honorable mentions.

Member of the All-HHC team include Hannah Farrell and Kate Real of Greenfield-Central, Sophie Williams and Sydnee Perry of Mt. Vernon, Cameron Tabor of New Castle, Leah Seib, Megan Jolly and Haley Harrison of New Palestine, Lauren Landes and Kailyn Graham of Pendleton Heights and Carley Culberson and Elizabeth Reece of Yorktown.

Coach of the Year is Chad Cook of Pendleton Heights. The Arabians were 6-1 with Greenfield-Central. Shelbyville finished 0-7.

In the Indiana Crossroads Conference, the Triton Central boys’ basketball team is represented by junior Wyatt Felling.

The rest of the All-ICC team includes Kenny Washington of Beech Grove, Miles Tracy of Cardinal Ritter, Makylin Brown of Scecina, Max Newman of Monrovia, Jalyn Curry of Beech Grove, Nate Soltis of Cardinal Ritter, Cobie Dillard of Scecina, Jomar Seals of Beech Grove, Chris Valentine of Speedway, Isiah Moore of Park Tudor and Manuel Brown of Scecina.

The Tigers girls’ team is represented by freshman Tenleigh Phelps, sophomore Maya Chandler and senior Haley Schneider on the All-ICC team. The rest of the team was not available.

The All-Mid-Hoosier Conference basketball teams are loaded with Shelby County players.

Southwestern head coach Noah Stuckey was named Coach of the Year on the girls’ side. The Spartans claimed a share of the MHC title with Morristown. Both teams were 5-1. Waldron was fourth at 2-4.

Representing Southwestern on the All-MHC team is senior Annie Coy and freshman Lexi Wilkins. Spartans junior Madison Van Gorden was named an honorable mention.

From Morristown, juniors Raegan Butcher, Cambie Poole, Brooklyn Langkabel and senior Alayna Munson made the All-MHC team.

Waldron is represented by juniors Morgan Wood and Victoria Shaw on the All-MHC team. Freshman Lauryn Thomas and junior Hannah Sullivan were named honorable mentions.

Taylor Best of South Decatur, Sarah Bohman of North Decatur, Destiny Ramey of Edinburgh and Sarah Tedder of Hauser also made the All-MHC team.

On the boys’ side, Griff Roth of Hauser was named as Coach of the Year.

The Jets won the conference with a 6-0 record.

Morristown finished 5-1 for second place, Southwestern was 2-4 for fifth and Waldron was 0-6 for seventh.

Seniors Eli Streeval and Hayden Langkabel and junior Logan Laster were named All-MHC for the Yellow Jackets.

Junior Blake McClure and senior Eirik Shackelford represent the Spartans on the All-MHC team, while senior Jacob Swanson was named an honorable mention.

Waldron senior guard Cameron Wells was also named an honorable mention.

Hauser is represented by Mason Sherman, Alex Gross and Justin Compton, while North Decatur’s Cameron Adams and Craig Adams also made the All-MHC team. Christian Cox of Edinburgh and Matt Cornett of South Decatur represent their respective schools on the All-MHC team.
