Vinson leads Golden Bears with 5-0 finish

The Shelbyville wrestling team competed in the Guerin Catholic Invitational on Saturday. In the 132-pound weight class, Jordan Vinson finished 5-0 to be named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.

As a team, Shelbyville finished 2-3.

Other top finishers for the Golden Bears included Dillon Berry (4-1) at 106 pounds, Chayce Collier (4-1) at 126, Micah Lee (3-2) at 120 and Elijah Sims (3-2) at 138.

Justin Addis (160) finished 2-3 on the afternoon, as did Michael Luciano and Trevor File at 170 and 195 pounds, respectively.

Shelbyville falls to Yorktown

Shelbyville dropped a Hoosier Heritage Conference game at home on Saturday to Yorktown, 44-20.

Carris Decatur led the team with eight points, while Olivia Knarr finished with six. The Golden Bears are now 1-15 and 0-5 in the HHC.

In the junior varsity contest, the Golden Bears won 40-29. Makyla Terrell led the team with 15 points. Holly Hickman finished with 10 before scoring two points in the varsity contest. Madison Hinderliter also scored 10 points in the win.
