Adams scores 24 points in home loss for Mohawks

By KRIS MILLS - kmills@shelbynews.com

The Waldron boys' basketball team was outscored 17-5 in the first quarter on Friday at home against South Decatur before rallying back into the game. The Mohawks, led by 24 points and six threes from senior sharpshooter Cole Adams, fell just short, however, in a 66-55 Mid-Hoosier Conference loss.

Waldron (2-17, 0-6 MHC) was paced by senior guard Cam Wells and junior forward Zane Smith with eight points each. Sophomore Parker Huffman added five points.

Za. Smith also grabbed eight rebounds -- a team high.

The Mohawks scored 20 points in the second and third quarters, outscoring the visiting Cougars 20-10 in the third, but put up just 10 points in the fourth and final period.

Waldron returns to action Tuesday at Greenwood Christian.

Ritter gets by Triton Central

The Triton Central boys' basketball team had little success slowing Indianapolis Ritter on Friday in a 95-45 Indiana Crossroads Conference loss on the road.

Ritter (9-7, 6-1 ICC) scored over 20 points in the first three quarters of play to secure the win.

Triton Central senior Garrett Pitzer led the team with 12 points and junior Wyatt Felling added 10. Senior Michael Manns finished with eight points.

The Tigers (9-10, 1-3 ICC) play again Tuesday at Monrovia.
